"This boycott did not come into force on the
same lines as before. It recommenced unofficially under the auspices of a Left Wing organization styled "The Anti- British Boycott Extension Committee". They intimidated dealers throughout the market to such an extent that all
movement of British goods, excepting oil, stopped on
November 15th The chief weapon was a threat to open and
confiscate all British goods found in the market after

China New Year. If there is no inspection or activity on
the part of the 'Boycott Extension Committee' after China
New Year, the movement of British goods will probably go
forward".
HONG KONG:
The Hong Kong, Canton & Macao Steamboat Company has
been doing normal trade during the week; i.e., practically
equal to that of the period before June, 1925. Two French
steamers will be competing for the traffic in three weeks'
time. Canes, Cassia, and Matting are the principal export
commodities which have been moving.
The first British cargo of coal since June 1925 has
just gone to Canton. As nearly as can be estimated in the
absence of official statistics the following are the com-
paritive figures of the Imports of Coal into the Colony:-

The prevailing experience is that trade generally during the week under review has been quiet on account of the New
Year holidays, and it is not expected that there will be
much improvement until after the China New Year.
Local wharves report that clearances during December were heavy, but incoming cargo continued to show a reduction.
